NSW: Iemma denies tunnel opening delayed for political reasons

New South Wales Premier MORRIS IEMMA says he wants the privately-owned Lane Cove Tunnel
opened as soon as possible.

Mr IEMMA denies the opening's being delayed for political reasons .. after the owner
previously said the tunnel might open in late December or in January.

Connector Motorways .. which owns the tollway .. yesterday said the tunnel won't open
during the next month because of faults detected in ventilation fans.

Mr IEMMA says he doesn't want the opening delayed until after the March 24 state election.
