Qld: Clean up begins after central Qld floods

BRISBANE, Feb 8 AAP - Flood waters were today easing in most of central Queensland,but authorities said it would take weeks to compile an accurate damage assessment.
Emergency Services disaster operations director Wayne Ripper said most of the residentshad begun the arduous job of cleaning up - scrubbing foul-smelling mud out of their houses,after inundations of up to one and a half metres of water.
"We still have problem areas, but generally the rain has eased and in many cases theflood waters are receding," he said.
